WHITFORDS XYLAN AND XYLAAR

Whitfords Xylan and Xylar

whitefords

At Black Metallic LLP SP, we are approved by Whitfords, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PPG, to apply their full range of high-performance Xylan® and Xylar® coatings.

These coating include:

  • Wide operating temperature range, from –195°C to +260°C
  • Exceptional corrosion and chemical resistance
  • Excellent adhesion properties
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Superior wear resistance
  • Flexible curing schedule
  • Availability in a wide color range

The result is a thin, continuous, protective barrier that provides resistance to galling, abrasion, corrosive environments, chemical exposure, dry film lubrication, wear resistance, torque control, non-stick properties, and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures.

Xylan® 1052

This coating is ideal for any mating surface that requires dry lubrication, such as bearings, sealing rings, and valve springs. It offers continuous operation in a temperature range from -195°C to +260°C, with an intermittent range up to +285°C. Xylan® 1052, approved by Whitfords, is an organic solvent-based, high-temperature coating designed for extreme pressure applications, capable of withstanding pressures up to 150,000 PSI. The typical Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 15 – 20 microns, and it is available in a wide variety of colors.

This coating is typically used for applications like threaded fasteners and nuts, offering continuous operation in temperatures ranging from -195°C to +260°C, with an intermittent range up to +285°C. Xylan® 1070, approved by Whitfords, is an organic solvent-based, low-friction coating commonly applied over Zinc, Phosphate, or other pretreatments to provide up to 3000 hours of salt spray resistance. The typical Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 20 – 25 microns, and it is available in a wide range of colors.

This coating is commonly used for threaded fasteners and nuts, with a continuous operating temperature range from -20°C to +180°C and an intermittent range up to +230°C. Xylan® 1424, approved by Whitfords, is an aqueous-based dry lubricant coating, typically applied over Zinc, Phosphate, or other pretreatments. It offers excellent corrosion resistance properties. The typical Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 20 – 25 microns, and it is available in a wide variety of colors.

This coating is ideal for mating surfaces that require dry lubrication. It offers continuous operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +175°C, with an intermittent range up to +230°C. Xylan® 1425, approved by Whitfords, is an aqueous-based, resin-bonded coating designed for high-pressure, low-speed wear applications, capable of handling extreme pressures up to 150,000 PSI (10,500 kg/cm²). The typical Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 15 – 20 microns, and it is available in a wide range of colors.

These coatings are commonly used in the aerospace, engineering, and marine industries to protect components from high-temperature oxidation, salt-laden environments, chemicals, and abrasives. Xylar coatings offer a continuous operating temperature range from -40°C to +535°C. They are aqueous/acidic-based aluminum “cermet” coatings, providing excellent chemical, corrosion, and abrasion resistance even at extreme temperatures. The typical Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 20 – 25 microns.
