PHOSPHATING

Phosphating ( Zinc & Maganese )

Phosphating is the application of a porous crystalline coating typically used on ferrous-based materials. This non-electrolytic process produces a phosphate layer through catalytic action between the component material and the phosphating solution, resulting in an exceptionally strong bond between the phosphate layer and the component surface.

The resulting coating is crystalline and porous, providing an excellent base for subsequent applications. As an undercoat for paints, phosphating significantly enhances the adhesion of the painted layer. Additionally, applying specialized oils and greases can improve the corrosion resistance of the component or provide lubricity for subsequent manufacturing processes.

Key Properties of Phosphating :

  • Corrosion resistance
  • Friction reduction
  • Uniform, smooth, thin-film deposit
Typical Applications
  • Fasteners
  • Gears
  • Thrust washers
  • Bearings
  • Connections
