HONING
Honing
Honing is a precision machining process used to improve the surface finish, geometry, and dimensional accuracy of holes or cylindrical surfaces. It’s commonly applied to the inside of bores, such as those found in engine cylinders, hydraulic cylinders, and various other industrial components where high levels of accuracy and smoothness are essential.
Benefits of Honing :
- Improved Surface Quality: Achieves mirror-like, highly polished surfaces.
- Enhanced Lubrication Retention: The crosshatch pattern allows for better oil retention, essential in applications like engine cylinders.
- Better Accuracy and Roundness: Removes small surface imperfections and ensures even diameter across the bore.
- Extended Component Life: Provides smoother, wear-resistant surfaces, reducing friction and wear.
